Home Sweet Home

I just returned home from 5 nights and 6 days in Town. We left on Wednesday and were supposed to return on Sunday but got bumped off the ferry so had to stay an extra night.

Our ferry broke down yesterday. They told us at first that it wouldn't run at all. Then they changed their minds and said they'd make a run, but just one. One run on our small ferry with enough people to fill it at least 2 and a half times.

Had they let us board in order of our check-in, we would have been the 3rd vehicle on board. But they went by reservation times. There were supposed to be 3 runs. One at 10AM, one at 2:30PM, and a final one at 5:30PM. Michael made the reservations and thought he'd be "safe" and put us on the last ferry in case we had things to do that couldn't be done during the tournament.

That meant we were part of the last bunch to be boarded. Again, had they sorted the reservation times by when we checked in, we would have made it home. But there were others who were more persistent in hassling the ferry people so they were chosen first.

We ended up being one of 4 cars turned away. I wasn't terribly upset, but not really looking forward to another night away. I was almost sorry by the time we finally settled in for the night.

Had we made the ferry, Michael wouldn't have had time to go to Safeway. Had he not had the time, he wouldn't have had the opportunity to buy groceries and I wouldn't have had to spend $300 in one place.

That's okay too, though, I suppose. We don't splurge like that very often and the variety of choices far exceeds anything we ever get here so it was worth it. I just hate spending money. hehe

It's snowing again. We've had snow since Wednesday. It isn't really sticking except to the trees so that's nice. It's pretty to watch fall but we don't have to worry about the build-up on the roads because there hasn't been any.

I'll write about the tournament tomorrow. I hope that all of you had a nice week(end) while I was away. :o)
