The 1st and 2nd graders have moved on to Balance and Motion in science lab. They've been practicing making paper objects balance, exploring counter balances, etc.
Today, one of the 1st grade classes was making mobiles out of straws, paper clips, rubber bands, and index cards. We gave them a picture of what the end result should look like and it was up to them to use their materials to recreate their own.
They were all having a blast and I asked Tyra if she thought todays experiment was fun.
"Yeah! We shoulda tried this years ago!"
She's 6. :o)
